Introducing Frank & Sense!

Hello internet! My name is Frank Cervarich, and I am creating something new that I want to share with you.

I am thrilled to announce that I am launching a new podcast called Frank & Sense, available today wherever you get your podcasts! Frank & Sense is a weekly podcast hosted by me, Frank Cervarich, featuring interviews with some of the most remarkable people I know. Every episode is a discussion of a wide range of topics, including news, policy, sports, and pop culture. Each episode is casual and fun. And maybe a little weird, but in a good way. It’s the most Frank show on the internet!

Wait, but don’t you already have a podcast?

Yep! I started podcasting three years ago as an attempt to stay connected with old friends, build community, and hopefully entertain people. Three years ago, I launched a podcast called “Let’s Be Frank.” Great name, right? It’s so good, in fact, that there are countless other Franks in the world that have also named their podcast “Let’s Be Frank”!

Here are a few examples other “Let’s Be Frank”s:

• A guy named Bryan who has a “Let’s Be Frank” about Benjamin Franklin, who he describes as “inventor and all around ladies man.”
• Two guys named Frank who love the Dodgers and talk about baseball.
• An Australian mobile company called Frank Mobile who uses their podcast “Let’s Be Frank” to discuss their business.
• And finally, my least favorite. There is a Frank who has over 250k YouTube subscribers who shares all sorts of nasty racist, homophobic, and transphobic content.

Even before learning about that last guy, I was already thinking of retiring the “Let’s Be Frank” name and relaunching the show. It was impossible to find my podcast because there were so many other podcasts with the same name. And when I finally came across that final Frank, I decided I needed to retire the name “Let’s Be Frank” and move on to something new.

Wait, don’t you do a podcast about sports?

Correct again! Hoops Crew is the best sports podcast that you've never heard of. Co-hosted with Mary Catherine Curran, Chloe Mikala, Greg Twomey, and Matt Sparacino, Hoops Crew has been running for three years as well. Fun fact: It actually began as an episode of Let’s Be Frank and then spun off into its own show! Hoops Crew releases new episodes once a week (available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts), and it feels like the perfect time to relaunch the show that began it all.

Ok, cool. So, what can I expect from Frank & Sense?

Great question! We already have episodes in the bank. I am delighted to announce that my friends Mitch Lerner and Matt Sparacino will be joining the show for the first three episodes of Frank & Sense for a miniseries I am calling Oscar-palooza 2024.

This week, we discuss our Honorable Mentions for the year in cinema (aka movies not nominated for Best Picture), including Across the Spiderverse, May December, The Boy and the Heron, Asteroid City, and Teenage Mutant Nija Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. In the following two episodes, we will break down all ten of the Best Picture nominees. It’s the ultimate Oscar primer, and the first episode is available now!

Future guests of Frank & Sense include author Ann Fraistat discussing her books What We Harvest and A Place for Vanishing, and North Carolina State Representative Caleb Rudow, who discusses his campaign to reclaim the seat in Congress previously held by Madison Cawthorn and Mark Meadows. And that’s just the first five episodes of the show!

There is so much to look forward to, and I am so excited to share it with you!

I am also launching a newsletter version of Frank & Sense, and this is the very first edition of that! Each newsletter will contain updates on new episodes of Frank & Sense and Hoops Crew, as well as links to topics discussed in the show, and various thoughts and musings.
